The sport of Precision Rifle Series (PRS) Rimfire is alive and thriving in Namibia! This past weekend, Okahandja Shooters Club and AGRA / Safari Den hosted the third ever .22 Rimfire PRS match since the inception of this exciting discipline in our country — and what a day it was!
A competitive field of 15 shooters took to the line, with 11 competitors in the IPRF class and 4 in the Weekend Warrior class, all facing the clock, the wind, and some seriously challenging steel.
What is .22 Rimfire PRS?
If you’ve never witnessed this sport, picture this: small steel gongs at varying distances, a ticking clock, and a shooter who has just 105 seconds to plan their stage, settle their breathing, and rack up as many hits as possible. The IPRF class pushes competitors even harder with more targets at greater distances and smaller sizes than the Weekend Warrior class. It’s where accuracy meets speed, and strategy meets adrenaline — a truly electrifying combination!
IPRF Class Results
- 🥇 1st Place: Justin Berry – 60/80 hits
- 🥈 2nd Place: Morne Thiart – 45/80 hits
- 🥉 3rd Place: Jacobus van Schalkwyk – 43/80 hits
Congratulations to Justin on a dominant performance — 60 hits out of a possible 80 is no small feat under the pressure of competition!
Weekend Warrior Class Results
- 🥇 1st Place: Johan Wessels – 55/60 hits
- 🥈 2nd Place: Hennie Viljoen – 30/60 hits
- 🥉 3rd Place: Rudolf Horn – 22/60 hits
An outstanding round from Johan Wessels, who nearly swept the board with 55 out of 60 possible hits — proving that the Weekend Warrior class is anything but a walk in the park!
